Nepal's airlines operators have threatened to halt services during the upcoming busy festival season if government does not roll back a hike in price of aviation fuel.
The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), which is currently running huge losses, has hiked the price of domestic aircraft fuel by Nepalese Rs 7 per litre.
Price of petrol has also been increased by Rs 5 per litre, while the price of kerosene and diesel was raised by Rs 3 per litre.
Chairman of the Airlines Operators' Association Nepal, Captain Rameshwor Thapa, said NOC's decision has affected normal life and government should immediately withdraw it.
Thapa said that Nepalese airlines operators are facing difficulties in running their business at a time when the 'Vijaya Dashami' festival is round the corner.
Meanwhile, various student organisations enforced an hour long transport strike in the country's capital today to oppose the hike.
