Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y S Chowdary flagged off the train through video linking from New Delhi.
This is the second train introduced by the Railways in Andhra Pradesh in just over a month. On June 4, a new superfast inter-city express between Vijayawada-Secunderabad via Guntur was launched.
Speaking on the occasion, Prabhu said the new train would provide more connectivity for the people of Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh with its new capital Amaravati. "The long-cherished demand of the Rayalaseema people has been fulfilled with the introduction of this train'.
On return, the train will depart from Dharmavaram on every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 17.50 hours and arrive in Vijayawada at 6.50 hours the next day.
