A newly-married couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves at their home at a village in Seraikela-Kharswan district, police said.
The police rushed to the spot today morning after being informed by neighbours that there was no response from the house despite repeated knocks, Officer-in-charge of Chandil Police Station, Adikant Mahato, said.
The police broke open the door and found the couple hanging, he said.
A suicide note allegedly left by the woman was also found in the room, he said.
Prima facie, it seemed to be a case of suicide, Mahato said.
The couple had got married just six months ago and it was a love marriage, he said.
"We have questioned the parents of the victims and they told us that they had no objection to the marriage," he said.
