A bench headed by Justice Swantanter Kumar directed the city government, DSIIDC, Delhi Pollution Control Committee and municipal corporations to seek instructions on the status of CETPs after they told the green panel that only 17 of the 28 industrial clusters in Delhi have CETPs.
"What about the remaining 11 industrial clusters? Are they operating? Do they have their own CETP plants or there is a common treatment plant? Are they discharging properly or not?
During the hearing, the tribunal noted that the trade effluent generated by 17 industrial clusters is being treated by 13 CETPs installed in various parts of the capital.
When the bench enquired about the remaining 11 industrial clusters, DPCC informed it that they are not expected to have any CETP as they would be closed down by September 2016, according to the joint inspection report of DPCC, CPCB and DSIIDC.
It had also rapped DSIIDC over inordinate delay in functioning of CETPs in Okhla and Lawrence Road while rejecting DSIIDC's plea seeking six months to make them functional.
DSIIDC had told the tribunal that out of 13 CETPs installed by it, 11 were functional and treating municipal sewage efficiently.
