The Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report that a 17-year-old girl committed suicide in Chijarsion on October 16 after she was repeatedly harassed by three men, who had also tried to kidnap her and that police did not arrest the accused even after a complaint was filed.
"The contents of the report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights," observed the Commission as it sought reports in the matter within two weeks.
