According to Variety, the "Bang Bang" rapper will star as Draya, "the sassy new hairdresser of the beauty shop portion of the barbershop."
It has been announced that some original cast members including Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson and Eve will be reprising their respective roles in the project.
Minaj joins a group of newcomers which includes Common and Regina Hall.
"Barbershop 3" will be directed by Malcolm D Lee with a script from Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver.
The original 2002 movie starring Ice and Anthony was directed by Tim Story, while the 2004 sequel "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" was helmed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan. Both films collected a total of around USD 140 million in worldwide box office.
In 2014, she starred as Cameron Diaz's assistant Lydia in romantic-comedy film "The Other Woman (2014)".
