Nifty ends at seven-month high, up 87 points

Rising for the fourth-consecutive session, NSE benchmark Nifty gained another 87 points ending at 7-month high on across the board buying by PSU Bank, pharma, energy and realty on the back of higher global cues.
Nifty opened on a positive note with a minor gap at 8082 levels and posted day low of 8077 and continued to inch up higher on the back of positive sentiment and concrete buying to touch high at 8164 level.
In overseas stock markets, Asian and European stocks edged higher after better-than-expected US economic reports overnight.
US equities took a breather yesterday, following their steepest two-day advance since March as investors parsed a slew of economic reports.
The 50-share Nifty resumed higher at 8,081.95 and moved in a range of 8,164.20 and 8,077.05 before ending at 8,156.65, showing a rise of 87.15 points or 1.08 per cent.
On the sectoral front, PSU Bank rose by (4.83 pct), Pharma by (2.98 pct), Energy (2.09 pct), Realty (1.52 pct), Metal (1.39 pct), Media (1.31 pct), Finance Serv (1.26 pct), Auto (0.98 pct), Bank (0.88 pct) and IT (0.74 pct).
However, FMCG eased by 0.06 per cent.
Among the Index gainers were, Bpcl 9.19 pct, SBIN 6.38 pct, SunPharma 5.85 pct, Adaniports 3.73 pct, Reliance 2.94 pct, AmbujaCem 2.87 pct, AuroPharma 2.52 pct and Bajaj Auto 2.19 pct.
While, ONGC fell 1.60 pct, Tata Power 1.43 pct, ONGC 1.41 pct, Axis bank 1.27 pct, TechM 1.18 pct and ITC 0.87 pct.
919 shares advanced, 630 fell, while 79 ruled steady.
Turnover in cash segment rose to Rs 21,169.20 crs from Rs 23,317.57 crs previously. A total of 10,019.91 lakh shares changed hands in 82,51,314 trades.
The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 97,31,871 crores.
