Nifty slips below 8800-mark down 32 points

The NSE Nifty snapped a four-day winning streak broke below the 8,800-mark down 32.50 points on profit booking mainly in realty, auto, infra, PSU banks, IT and energy stocks amid weakness in global stocks weighed on sentiments ahead of the outcome of two-day separate meetings of the Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan.
In overseas markets, European stocks were mixed. Asian stocks edged lower as investors awaited the outcomes of separate policy meetings of the US Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan (BOJ).
US stocks registered tiny losses yesterday, after a choppy session, with telecommunications shares lagging.
The 50-share Nifty opened higher at 8,816.10 and moved in a range of 8,816.45 and 8,759.30 before ending at 8,775.90, showing a fall of 32.50 pts or 0.37 pct from its last close.
It witnessed an intra-day movement of about 57.15 pts.
On sectoral front, Realty fell by (1.49 pct) followed by FMCG (0.80 pct), auto (0.70 pct), infra (0.61 pct), PSU bank (0.39 pct), IT (0.35 pct), energy (0.34 pct), bank (0.27 pct) and pvt bank (0.27 pct).
Notable Index laggards were HeroMotocorp (2.74 percent), Adaniports (2.19 per cent), Bajaj Auto (2.00 per cent), Indus Ind Bank (1.73 pct), BhartiAirtel (1.53 pct), Acc (1.44 pct), Tata Power (1.40 pct) and Tata Motors (1.36 pct).
While, gainers included Yes Bank (2.52 pct), Bharti InfraTel (2.06 pct), ONGC (1.42 per cent), Eicher Motor (1.29 per cent) Hindalco (1.15 pct) and Tata Steel (1.00 percent).
A total of 996 scrips declined, 614 advanced, while 80 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 103.
Turnover in cash segment rose to Rs 19,327.55 crore from Rs 19,226.37 crore as on Monday.
A total of 9,443.35 lakh shares changed hands in 77,67,387 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 1,09,12,693.31 crore.
