Water level in Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river touched the mark of 120.72 meters today, just a meter away from the dam height of 121.92 meters, the release said.
As per the government figures, three of the 137 dams in Saurashtra region, four out of 20 in Kutch region, one out of 17 in central Gujarat region and one out of 13 dams in south Gujarat have filled to the brim.
Apart from these 27 dams, nine other dams are filled up 70 to 80 per cent of their total capacity, while the remaining 166 dams are having less than 70 per cent of water of their holding capacity, stated the release.
With this recent spell of showers, Gujarat's average rainfall for the season now stands at 51.67 per cent, in which, Kutch received 82.17 per cent, north Gujarat 68.22 per cent, east-central region 39.94 per cent, Saurashtra 58.33 per cent and south Gujarat received 42.35 per cent, the release said.
