The incident happened at Sugapatti village under the jurisdiction of Phulparas police station.
Phulparas Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Umeshwar Choudhary said that all the nine seriously injured persons were admitted to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
The incident occurred when a villager, Ashok Kapar and his supporters opposed to a house being illegally constructed by another villager, Jai Krishna Goit, the SDPO said.
Ashok Kapar and his men opened fired and the other group retaliated with traditional weapons, the SDPO said.
The SDPO said that three persons - Jiwan Hindwar, Jai Krishna Goit and his cousin, Jai Prakash Goit were arrested while Ashok Kapar fled.
The police lodged an FIR against 25 unknown persons.
