The jeep was on its way to Imllia from Aama village when a Katni-bound bus rammed into it.
While two persons died on the spot, the remaining seven succumbed to injuries at a hospital, police said.
The deceased were identified as Chironjilal, Khiladi Choudhary, Rammu Choudhary, Dukhiram Choudhary, Bakku Chouhary, Shukku Chouhary, Salim Khan, Kunj Bihari, Ramaiya Choudhary, they said, adding all were adults.
The injured were undergoing treatment at the district hospital, Katni and Community Health Centre, Shahnagar, police said.
