Several areas were raided in the Kalvarayan hills following reports about brewing of illicit arrack and manufacturing of country pistols, they said.
The pistols were seized at Melmudiyur, police said, adding one person managed to escape.
Police said an illegal pistol manufacturing unit was unearthed in 2014 and 250 pistols seized.
