NIT to adopt ten Assam villages

Technology (NIT), Silchar has adopted ten villages of Assam and will develop it as model villages in a planned manner.

The Centre will sanction Rs 10 crore for the purpose and Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been already submitted in this regard, NIT Director Dr N V Deshpande told PTI.

Emphasis will be given on primary education and professional education while a solar project will be established in each of the ten villages, he added.

The villages included in the project are Tukergram and Chekerchum of Cachar, Defalala and Mokamtilla of Karimganj, Telkatta and Dhalcherra of Hailakandi, Laisong and Prasadamik in Dima Hasao and Mulaber and Tawpat in Karbi Anglong districts.
