National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an additional budgetary grant of Rs 9,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir to meet the expense of regularising 61,000 daily rated workers and implement the seventh Pay Commission recommendations.
"NMC urged the Prime Minister to grant an additional Rs 9,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir, so that it can meet the expenses of the regularisation of 61,000 daily rated workers and also implement the seventh pay commission recommendations in the state," NMC chief Subash Shastri said here today.
Shastri also hailed the Centre's decision of sending an all-party delegation headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to the state and expressed hope that it would help end the ongoing unrest in Kashmir Valley.
While we hail the visit of the all-party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir, it would be much better if it visits Ladakh, he said.
The all-party delegation should also hold meetings with representatives of trade unions and employees federations to apprise themselves of their working conditions and their long-pending demands, the NMC chief said.
"National Mazdoor Conference extends its support to the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in restoration of normalcy in Kashmir," he added.
