The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) announced its decision today, to implement a water cut from July 7 onwards, due to inadequate rains causing a decrease in the stock of water stored in Gangapur Dam, which is the main source of water for the city.
City mayor Yatin Wagh announced today that water would be supplied only once a day, instead of twice a day from July 7, to save 60 million cubic feet of water daily.
He said that at present 40 per cent of water remains in dam and water would be available until August 15.
Mayor Yatin Wagh conducted a meeting of NMC officials yesterday and took a decision on the water cut.
