National Mazdoor Conference today appealed to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to regularise the services of all daily wagers and casual labourers working in different departments in the state.
"Omar should take decision in the next cabinet meeting to pave the way for regularisation of all casual, need-based, seasonal, contractual and Ad hoc labourers deployed in various departments of the state government since long," NMC president Subash Shastri told reporters here.
The Chief Minister should look the matter on priority basis so that these workers may be regularised before the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct due to ensuing Assembly elections in the state, he said.
These daily-rated workers facing serious financial hardships due to inflation and price hike as their services have not been regularised for the last 20 to 25 years nor they are getting their salary in time, Shastri said.
He also urged the Chief Minister to release 10 per cent DA due from January last and fourth instalment of the 6th pay commission arrears for state government employees and pensioners in cash.
The other demands included enhancement of wages of daily-rated workers to Rs 10,000 per month, enhancing medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month, issuance of regularisation orders of 180 daily wagers working in Rural Development Department, removal of all pay anomalies of clerical cadre and grant of 20 per cent interim relief besides merger of 50 per cent DA into basic pay or pension.
