The Delhi government's Directorate of Education has dispensed with the requirement of submitting affidavits and documents attested by a gazetted officer for grant of recognition to private unaided schools and 'essentiality certificates' to societies and trusts.
The DoE directive came following the Delhi government's decision taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal last week to abolish 200 types of affidavits, which are required for issuing of different documents -- ration cards, income certificate, transport permits -- from December 1 and replace it with self-attestation.
"On perusal of the existing Act and Rules to regulate private unaided recognised schools, it is found that such requirements to seek attested documents/affidavits are not flown from the Delhi School Education Act & Rules, 1973," a DoE circular issued today said.
"Therefore, due to no legal requirement of such documents, it has been decided to replace affidavits with undertakings and attestation by gazetted officer with self-attestation for processing the cases of grant of essentiality certificates to the societies/trusts; approval of scheme of management and recognition/upgradation of private unaided schools," it added.
