Delhi University has received representation from North East Students' Society over granting them exemption from clearing the Compulsory Test in Hindi (CTH) but no such concession has been granted yet, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Human Resource Development Mahendra Nath Pandey made a statement in this regard while replying to a query about it.
"The University has received representation from North East Students' Society Delhi University and National Students' Union of India in this regard. However, no exemption from clearing the CTH has been granted yet," the minister said.
"The DU has reported that as per the Ordinance V(2-A) of the ordinances of the University of Delhi, the students of the courses of the study for the degrees as mentioned in this ordinance shall be required to pursue a course study and to pass an examination in Hindi," Pandey added.
The university's Hindi Department, he said, has made a request to principals of all the colleges attached to DU to start teaching of the course/syllabi approved by Academic Council for the CTH under Choice Based Credit System for those Indian under graduate-level students who have not passed in Hindi subject till Class VIII.
