Justice B. Rajendran, before whom the advance bail petition filed by Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, came up, directed the Coimbatore police to extend the date of personal appearance of the actor before January 2 to January 5 when the court reopens after Christmas-New Year holidays.
Submitting that mischief was played by someone without Simbu's knowledge, senior counsel R.Muthukumarswamy for the actor said arrest and custodial interrogation were not necessary.
Meanwhile, Women Lawyers Association opposed anticipatory bail to the actor.
The Coimbatore Race Course Police had registered case against the actor and the composer Anirudh Ravichandran following a complaint from the Coimbatore unit of All India Democratic Women's Association on December 12.
The Race Course Police here also registered similar cases against them and issued summons to both asking them to appear before it on January 2 for inquiry, on a private complaint from one Ponnusamy.
