The Assam government today said it had not received any communication from the Centre on the Naga Framework Agreement and asserted that it would not accept the inclusion of the state's territory in the proposed Nagalim or Greater Nagaland. In a written reply to a query from Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary informed the Assembly that the BJP government in the state had not received any official intimation or information from the Centre on the Naga Framework Agreement. Replying on behalf of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is in charge of the home and border areas development departments, Patowary added that the state government had not contacted the Centre as there was no official communication on the issue. Asked about the state government's stand if any portion of Assam was included in the proposed Nagalim, he said, "The Assam government will not at all accept the inclusion of Assam's land in Nagalim." To a question on the framework agreement from Congress MLA Ajanta Neog, the minister said the Centre had not sought any suggestion from the state government in this regard. The Naga Framework Agreement was signed between the NSCN(IM) and the Centre in 2015 to solve the decades-long Naga political problem.
