No let up in heat wave conditions in Haryana, Punjab

There was no let up in the heat wave conditions in Haryana and Punjab today, with Hisar once again recording the highest temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius.

Haryana's Hisar district was the hottest place in the two states and its maximum temperature was four degrees above the normal, a report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Among other places in Haryana, Narnaul recorded a high of 44.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal. Bhiwani too sizzled at 43.4 degrees Celsius.

Karnal and Ambala sweltered as the mercury touched 42 and 42.6 degrees Celsius respectively, four degrees above the normal for both.

In Punjab, Patiala and Ludhiana had a hot day at 43.1 and 42.6 degrees Celsius respectively, while Amritsar recorded a high of 41.8 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees above the normal.

According to the IMD, the heat wave conditions are likely to continue in many parts of Haryana and in few places of Punjab over the next three days.
