The number of unemployed people registered in the employment exchanges in Delhi has increased from 5.56 lakh in 2006 to 12.97 lakh in 2016, according to the latest Economic Survey of the national capital released today.
At least 27 per cent those registered are graduates and 73 per cent were either matriculate or had higher secondary-level education, said the Economic Survey of Delhi for 2017-18.
"27 per cent of unemployed persons registered in employment exchange in Delhi had educational qualification of graduation and above during 2016. 73 per cent of the unemployed persons registered in employment exchanges were in the category matriculate or higher secondary level education," the survey said.
"The estimated number of workers during 2016 was at 57.75 lakh and the unemployed persons constituted 3.06 per cent of the labour force," it added.
