Responding to queries whether the government has received any proposal from the community to be declared as minority and time line set by the Centre to take a decision in this regard, Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "A proposal of Jewish community demanding grant of minority status has been received by this Ministry.
"No time line has been fixed by the central government to take a decision to declare Jewish community as minority community."
The community, according to Office of the Registrar General, is classified under the category 'Other Religion and Persuasion', he added.
