None can stop BSP from coming to power in UP in 2017: Mayawati

Claims that Bihar voted en masse in favour of the grand alliance against the 'wrong policies and communal mindset'

Claiming that people in Bihar voted en masse in favour of the grand alliance against the "wrong policies and communal mindset" of BJP, BSP supremo Mayawati today said results had proved that no power can stop her party from coming to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.

"The people of Bihar voted en masse in favour of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav against the wrong policies, working style and communal mindset of BJP because of which BSP failed to ensure victory of its candidates," Mayawati said in a statement.

"It became a direct fight in Bihar between the grand alliance and BJP...And BSP had to face massive losses there," she said.

Mayawati, however, said that BSP had the satisfaction in the fact that anti-Dalit, anti-minorities and those against communal amity having casteist mentality have not been able to come to power in Bihar like at the Centre.

"People of Bihar need to be congratulated for this or else its effect would surely have been on the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh," she said, adding BJP was under the impression that once it comes to power in Bihar the same would be repeated in UP also.

"Bihar results have had an adverse impact on BJP and Samajwadi Party in UP, and BSP now has confidence that no power can stop it from coming to power in UP," she stressed.

"In the recent panchayat elections in UP, BJP was wiped out and Samajwadi Party also trailed BSP...In Bihar, SP in a tacit understanding with BJP, fielded candidates which could have directly benefited the saffron party," she alleged.

She also thanked her party-men in Bihar for standing unitedly in the face of a challenge posed by the direct contest.
