Assistant Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar said that acting upon a tip of an informer a police and crime branch team led by Ghaziabad City SP Salman Taj Patil signalled a zen car to stop near new Hindon river bridge of Karhera village early this morning.
The occupants alighted from the car and started firing from their 9mm carbine.
The police team retaliated the fire in which one of the occupants of the car received two bullet shot injuries in his leg while the other two fled.
Kaley is notorious criminal and is wanted in 15 cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion in various police stations, he said.
The City SP said Kaley was at large since January 13, 2015 after killing Amzad alias pappu Malik while he was going from his village Pasonda of Sahibabad along with his brother Arshi Malik cloth merchant.
Later on Kaley shot dead Arshi Malik inside the premises of ATS society on March 11.
Police had declared a reward of 50,000 on Kaley's head.
Today Kaley was planning to eliminate Iqubal brother of Arshi during the marriage ceremony of his sister which was supposed to be solemnized this evening, Patil added.
