Now banks will be people's hands: Jharkhand Chief Secretary

Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma today said now bank will be in people's hand, will give shape to people's mobile as a bank, and everyone's active participation was required.
People's campaign has begun in digital and cashless Jharkhand, an official release said quoting her.
To spread cashless system throughout the state, 137 new bank branches would be opened, Verma said after Chief Minister Raghubar Das launched the 'Jharkhand Cashless Campaign' at Nagari block in Ranchi district.
She asked the bank management to activate 'bank friends' and if necessary make more of them as they have an important role, she said.

Verma also asked to make available debit/credit cards to account holders.
To strengthen the campaign for cashless, nodal officials would be made in 264 blocks and at all districts and departments, she said.

Under the state welfare department, there are 40,000 sevikas, approximately 7,000 'nutrition sakhi' and under the health department 40,000 sahiya, ANM, 50,000 Sakhi Mandal members, 1,000 schools, high schools and higher and technical department's nearly five lakh youth would make efforts in fulfilling the dream of a cashless Jharkhand, the Chief Secretary said.
Cashless Jharkhand would free the state from middlemen and exploitation, she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Development Commissioner Amit Khare said Jharkhand has always accepted challenges and would establish example in making cashless Jharkhand.

He cited how the state had given Rs 100 crore loan to one lakh people under the MUDRA scheme and set an example, adding now corruption and black money would be reined in.
"Now there is no need to take cash. It is my mobile, my purse," he said and added, first it was cheque and then ATM, and now the call is mobile banking, easy to transact money like sending a message.
To proceed towards cashless banking, altogether 3,000 camps were being organised by the banks to give information, he said.
General Manager of State Bank of India, Ajit Sood said Jharkhand has taken a step forward towards digital and cashless state, adding the bank was continuously working with the state government in this regard, the release said.

He said SBI was working to make Garhwa district's Meral village a digital village and West Singhbhum district's Hartopa and Harlong villages would be connected with digital revolution, the release added.
