Sukhjit Singh and Harpreet Kaur, presently living in the UK, arranged the fake marriage certificate from a religious place with the help of Amar Kishore Passi, Phagwara, Superintendent of Police, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, said.
Amar, a resident of local Urban Estate, was arrested for his involvement in the matter, he said.
Shavinder Kaur, mother of Harpreet, in her complaint on June 5 alleged that Sukhjit lured her UK based daughter into marriage.
Police, however, during the probe found that Harpreet was willing for the marriage, he said.
After the marriage, they left for UK, he said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC was registered against the trio, the police official said.
