NSDC trains 13.5 lakh people in first 3 years of operations

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has trained over 13 lakh people in the first three years of its operations.
The Corporation has trained 13,49,742 people in the first three years of its operations and has so far created a capacity that is likely to skill 7.5 crore people in the next 10 years, NSDC said in a statement.
It is also implementing the 'Udaan' scheme, targetted at the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, under which 43 corporates have committed to train 61,113 candidates over the next 5 years.
Till date, 6,061 candidates have been selected by 35 companies, the statement added.
"There is a systemic national-level change that's happening to catalyse and increase the number of skilled professionals," said S Ramadorai (Chairman, National Skill Development Agency and NSDC).
The release further said that NSDC's Standard Training Assessment & Reward scheme has enrolled 2,20,686 candidates, of which 1,06,564 have completed training, in the first five months of its operations.
NSDC has approved 122 skill programmes till date. These ventures are operating in 358 districts.
Moreover, it has approved 29 sector skill councils which have standardised 501 job roles in different sectors till date, the statement added.
