The Naga Students' Federation NSF) today staged sit-in protest demanding all appointments allegedly surpassing the standing order of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms on June 6, be revoked.
NSF President Subenthung Kithan said NSF had served a 10-day representation to the State Chief Secretary on December 7 last claiming several departments making alleged bakccdoor appointments.
The NSF demanded such appointments revoked and the vacant posts sent for requisition through Nagaland Public Service Commission and Department examinations be held for an open competition.
Despite the winter vacation, hundreds of student volunteers sat-in-protest with placards and banners and shouted slogans expressing resentment and demanding revocation of all such appointments.
Some of the placards read "We want to compete for employment", "We want to stop all illegal appointments".
Kithan said that the information about such illegal appointments was received through responses of the Departments to the RTI application filed by the Federation in all the government departments of the State.
He said that altogether 57 backdoor appointments have been made in nine about government departments.
He said while RTI was filed in around 80 government departments, only 39 had responded and reply from other departments are awaited.
A government spokesman denied the charges and all appointments had been made following due procedures.
