Nun rape: superior general of congregation thanks Mamata

The superior general of the Religious of Jesus and Mary today thanked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the successful investigation into the Ranaghat nun rape case that led to conviction of six persons.
The septuagenarian nun was raped in a convent run by the congregation on March 14, 2015.
"Sr Monica Joseph of India telephoned the Chief Minister and thanked her for the manner by which the state probed the incident," the official said
Sr Monica Joseph of India is the superior general of the Religious of Jesus and Mary nuns worldwide, headquartered in Rome.
She also expressed satisfaction at the court's final verdict in the case.
A city court today sentenced a Bangladeshi man to imprisonment till death for raping the nun during a dacoity at the convent at Ranaghat town in Nadia district.
