She was hospitalised with two bullets lodged in her body, one of which was removed. She has been referred to the government hospital in Madurai for further treatment, they said.
Police said the woman was alone at home when some persons barged into the house from the rear side, shot and stabbed her before fleeing with her chain.
The woman managed to call up her relatives who got her admitted to hospital, they said.
