Hundreds of policemen were involved in the operation in the districts. The operation is scheduled to take place tomorrow too, sources said.
Though 13 coastal districts were covered, Chennai was excluded, considering the heavy movement of people for commercial activity, ahead of Diwali, which is just two days away, they said.
Vehicles were checked at random and suspicious activities were looked into, they added.
