Nursing home director in jail

The director of a private nursing centre here was today sent to 14 days judicial custody in connection with the alleged rape and suicide of a woman working there, police said.
According to her dying declaration on July 21 at a private hospital here, she tried to commit suicide after being raped by the director of Shiv Shakti nursing centre for over one year on the pretext of marriage and further studies, they said.
The 26-year-old woman, who did the course of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) from the centre and was working there, had also accused Mandeep of blackmailing her after taking obscene pictures and videos of hers, they said.

Police had registered a case of rape and abatement of suicide against Mandeep following which was arrested on July 20. He was today produced before a court which remanded him in judicial custody.
A mobile phone and an attendance register have been seized from the centre, they said.
