obacco products worth Rs 15.40 lakh seized

: Tobacco products worth Rs 15.40 lakh were seized from a lorry at a checkpost on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway today, police said.
The lorry was on its way to Nagercoil from Bengaluru.
The occupants of the lorry did not have documents for carrying such a large consignment and the vehicle was handed over to Health Security officer Dr.Anuradha, police said.
She told reporters that the products would be subjected to chemical tests and destroyed after two days.
