"If the government has made a certain rule which is only for our own health benefits, I believe we should respect the directive and follow it," said Rudra Gupta, a class VII student.
Mitali, a class VI student said, "we appeal to the public not to follow the rule under the fear of being penalised but should voluntarily to do so. If few people take the lead, many people will follow them."
"We want to give a message that students who are not even driving their car on roads are concerned about its benefits, then adults should take care of the fact that polluted air is hazardous for all of us," said Nisha Tyagi.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) today directed its schools to ensure participation of at least 30 students in an awareness campaign on the odd-even scheme.
The department had earlier directed shutting down of schools from January 1-15 so the school buses can be added to the fleet of DTC for being used as public transport during the odd-even trial.
Under the scheme, private cars having odd registration numbers will be allowed to ply on odd dates and those with even numbers on even dates.
