Odisha approves investment of Rs 1,036 crore in 5 sectors

Odisha government on Tuesday approved investment of Rs 1,036 crore in five different sectors having potential of creating employment opportunity for 2,778 people, an official said.

The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) headed by Chief Secretary A P Padhi gave nod to seven investment proposals in sectors like food processing, plastics, tourism, logistics and metal, an official said.

While approving the projects, Padhi asked the concerned departments to ensure early grounding of the industrial units within specified timeline.

Padhi also asked the departments to make a realistic assessment of the land and water requirement of the projects.

The approved projects include the proposal of Supreme Industries Limited, for setting up a manufacturing unit in Khurda district for production of plastic pipes, PVC water tanks and allied products with investment of Rs 151.30 crore. This unit will create job opportunity for 320 persons.

Bhagirathi Packaging Private Limited, an associate company of Fogla Group, proposed to set up polypropylene (PP) woven bags production unit in Bhadrak district with investment of Rs 60.29 crore and create employment for 500 people, an official said.

The proposal of Mayfair Hotels & Resort Limited to set up a Convention Center with 4,000 capacity at Bhubaneswar with an investment of Rs 300 crore and employment potential of 850 people also got the SLSWCA's approval.

This apart, the SLSWCA also cleared the proposal for two food processing units. Thailand based Intecqc Feed Co Ltd proposed to set up Shrimp Feed manufacturing unit in Khurda district with investment of Rs 107.88 crore and employment potential of 205 people.

Odisha-based Explore Food Pvt Ltd, will manufacture "Ready to Eat" snacks unit in Khurdha district with investment of Rs 51.40 crore which will provide employment to 194 persons.

The other proposals approved in the meeting were from Odisha-based entrepreneurs. These included the proposal of Chalah Infratech Pvt Ltd to set up a Logistic Park in Khurda district entailing an investment of Rs 99.80 crore and job opportunity for 234 person.

The proposal of KAI International Pvt Ltd for setting up Iron Ore Beneficiation and Pellet Plant in Sundargarh district envisaged an investment of Rs 265.72 crore, said Kalyan Mohanty, the chief general manager IPICOL.
