Though the IMD had earlier predicted that the Monsoon would arrive in the state during second week of June, the next date was possibly on June 16.
"We expect the monsoon to arrive in the state on June 16," IMD regional director S C Sahu told reporters here.
At least six places in the western region of the state recorded temperature above 40 degrees C while the people had a tough time due to high rate of humidity in the coastal districts, IMD sources said, adding that the situation would continue till the arrival of Monsoon.
Though temperature fell in most parts of the coastal belt, high level of humidity made life uncomfortable.
In the capital city of Bhubaneswar, the temperature stood at 39.7 degrees Celsius, while relative humidity remained as high as 87 per cent.
The temperature in Cuttack was 38.8 degrees Celsius while it was 38.8 degrees C in Cuttack.
