Nitish announces new University in Purnea

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that a university would be set up at Purnea and said if need arises, a legislation would be passed to this effect in the next session.
The CM made this announcement after a meeting with Public representatives of Purnea division including MPs and MLAs of the region.
Kumar directed local representatives and Purnea district administration to identify land for the proposed university, an official statement said.
The announcement came in the wake of demand by all elected representatives.
Purnea MP Santosh Kushwaha demanded opening a branch of AIIMS in Purnea and repair of major roads.
Araria MP Mohammad Taslimuddin demanded revival of scheme for development of basin of Mahananda river. The RJD MP also demanded qualitative improvement in education in the region.
Other representatives sought hospital, educational institutions and better civic facilities in the Division.

Reacting to the demand of opposition BJP for a CBI
probe into the paper leak in Bihar State Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) exams for clerical jobs, Kumar, told reporters after his 'Lok Samvad' programme that "investigation into the matter is being conducted by the Police and there is no need to heed to the demands of anybody whose sole intent is to get publicity through such utterance."
On the report submitted regarding the boat tragedy in Patna on January 14 in which 25 people had died, the Chief Minister said was yet to see the document.
