Odisha Govt asks SLBC to prepare credit plan for MSMEs

Odisha government today asked the convener of State Level Banking Committee (SLBC) to prepare a credit plan within a fortnight to ensure smooth flow of loans to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the state.
The direction was issued by Chief Secretary A P Padhi while reviewing activities of the MSME department.
He laid emphasis on creating more employment opportunities during the current fiscal and directed the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) to identify 100 acres of land in the Kalinga Nagar Industrial Cluster to house MSME units.
Padhi asked officials to facilitate land allotments and loans to entrepreneurs, sources said.
Additional Chief Secretary, MSME, L N Gupta said over 12.28 lakh employment opportunities have been created in the sector in 2016-17.
"About Rs 14,206 crore has been invested in the MSME sector by June this year while creating employment opportunities for over 12,28,309 people," Gupta said.
He said the units under MSME sector are mainly food processing and allied sector, chemical, electrical and electronics, metal engineering, wood, forest and wooden, glass and ceramic.
Gupta also said 21,935 units have been set up at an investment of Rs 491 crore under Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), which has created employment opportunities for 1.74 lakh people.
