Odisha govt doctors to get higher remuneration

In a Diwali bonanza to doctors appointed on contractual basis, the Odisha government today announced a hike in their remuneration.
The hike was announced by Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu S Nayak here a day before Diwali.
As per the government notification, specialist doctors working in rural and urban areas of KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir- Koraput) districts will now get a monthly pay of Rs 50,000 and Rs 45,000 as against their existing pay of Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
The consolidated pay for assistant surgeons working in KBK area will be Rs 40,000 as against their earlier pay packet of Rs 24,000, while their counterparts placed in non-KBK areas would now get Rs 35,000 per month as against Rs 20,000 earlier.
The remuneration of the specialist doctors working in district headquarters hospitals (DHH) and sub-divisional hospitals (SDH) in KBK has been revised from Rs 25,000 to 45,000, while for the specialist doctors working in non-KBK DHHs and SDHs the pay has been revised from 22,000 to Rs 40,000.
Specialist doctors working in non-KBK periphery areas will now receive a monthly remuneration of Rs 45,000 as against the existing remuneration of Rs 25,000, it said.
The minister said specialists (Anaesthesiology and Radiology) working in DHHs and SDHs will receive a revised monthly pay of Rs 50,000 against the existing pay of Rs 30,000.
The state government has also revised the monthly consolidated remuneration for teachers appointed on contract basis in different government medical colleges and hospitals.
The minister said a revision of the monthly remuneration of professors to Rs 80,000 (previously Rs 50,000), associate professors Rs 55,000 (previously Rs 40,000), assistant professors working for more than five years and appointed recently Rs 35,000 (previously Rs 30,000).
The revised salary of the doctors and medical teachers will be effective from October 1 this year, he added.
