Officials cage primates: Monkeys run away with enclosure

No usual monkey business this.
Caging of four primates by forest officials in the wake of monkey attack complaints, invited strange reaction from hundred of other simians, who today mobbed the officials and took away the enclosure along with the animals, with them.
Hundreds of monkeys surrounded the cage in which the four primates were kept and took it away in the jungles at Lataguri in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.
Divisional Forest Officer, Wildlife II, Sunita Ghatak said, the four mokeys had been trapped last night by forest department personnel following complaints by locals of frequent attacks by the primates.

The forest workers were left running for cover this morning when hundreds of monkeys came to the site where the cage was kept, Ghatak said.
They then took away the cage along with the monkeys inside, with them into the nearby forests, she said.
The fate of the caged monkeys was, however, not known yet, she added.
