Lazada is South East Asia's one of the biggest e-commerce companies, backed by players like Rocket Internet and Temasek Holdings.
Sahni, who will be part of Ola's core leadership team, has an experience of about nine years, the company said.
Under his guidance, Lazada became Indonesia's largest e-commerce shopping portal. At Lazada, he successfully closed over USD 100 million of fund raising rounds from reputed European investors for the firm, Ola said in statement.
"Sundeep brings with him a unique experience of setting up an e-commerce venture from scratch in a new country. His intuitive knowledge and experience of startups on both operational and investment sides in his past roles will be valuable for us," Ola co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said.
Before Lazada, Sahni was with Watheeqa Capital Company, a private equity firm from Cairo, Egypt and Credit Suisse in New York and London.
