Old man killed as he foils robbery attempt

An old man, who foil a robbery attempt at a jewellery shop, was allegedly killed by two unidentified persons in Badlapur area here, police said today.
The incident took place in the wee hours yesterday when two unidentified men barged into Narayan Ganpat Vyapari's (96) house in Sanewadi area, adjoining to a jewellery shop, and tried to enter the shop through the victim's residence, Badlapur (West) police station API A B Pohekar said.
The miscreants tried to break the adjoining wall between the victim's house and the shop but Vyapari caught hold of them, while trying to foil their robbery attempt, the officer said, adding, the duo then attacked Vyapari with a sharp weapon.

The incident took place near one Divya Jewellers and the victim died in the serious assault.
The duo have been captured in the CCTV installed in the surrounding and the hunt is on to nab them, he said.
A case has been registered in this regard under section 302 (murder) and 460 rw 34 (house-breaking) and the body has been sent for postmortem, police added.
