Oman and Korea Republic settled for a goalless draw to split points in a Group C match of the AFC Under-16 Championship at Nehru Stadium, here today.
With today's draw, Oman and Iraq have four points each from two matches. Korea Republic and Malaysia who drew their respective match today have one point each from two matches.
Oman play their last match against Iraq on September 22 which will decide if they make quarter-finals. Malaysia will take on Korea Republic on the same day.
Both the teams started on a cautious note as they moved the ball at each other's goal.
Oman who blanked Malaysia 3-0 in their previous match created a couple of early chances but first Mohammed Al-Alawi's weak shot was collected by rival keeper and later striker Arshad Said Al-Alawi saw his shot missing the target narrowly. His shot hit the bar from a free kick in the 21st minute.
Korea Republic than came with a counter move and nearly scored but Park Chanbin's shot was collected well by keeper Yousuf Al Sheyadi off a pass from the right by Jeong Chanyoung.
In the second half, Oman twice came close to finding the net but Naji Fayal Al Gheilani's strike was blocked by the keeper.
Ten minutes later Oman's Thaimer Ali Zaabi had a good chance to score but he shot over from close.
