Omar for better tertiary medicare facilities in J-K

Tertiary medicare facilities have to be improved in Jammu and Kashmir's Super Speciality Hospitals so that patients suffering from ailments of critical nature do not have to go outside the state for treatment, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today.
"We are making an endeavour to provide best quality modern super speciality treatment in these hospitals," he said, adding
that upgradation process of various government hospitals is under implementation.
After inspecting various units of Jammu Super Speciality Hospital at Rashemghar, Omar said all hospitals in the twin towns of Jammu and Kashmir, districts and blocks, including PHCs, have been strengthened during the last five years to provide better health care.
"We have to try our best to provide latest treatment to patients at primary, secondary and tertiary levels for which qualified faculty, latest equipment and medicines hold the key to success," he said.
Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din said three new disciplines - Neurosurgery, Neurology, Gastro-enterology and Endocrinology - will be opened shortly in the Super Speciality Hospital here.
The Centre has provided Rs 100 crore for the construction of the 220-bed Hospital, while the state government provided Rs 20 crore.
The state government has also provided Rs 147 lakh for undertaking various services in the Super Speciality Hospital during 2013-14.
