One girl was killed and another injured when a pick-up van hit them in Bodam area of East Singhbhum district today, police said.
The two girls, student of Class 6 and 7 were on their way to school when the pick-up van hit. Both of them were rushed to hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries, they said.
The driver of the pick van escaped from the spot leaving the vehicle. When a police team went to bring the van back to the police station, the villagers pelted them stones in which four policemen were injured, they said.
In an another incident in adjoining West Singhbhum district, a driver of truck was killed and two others were injured when the truck collided with a dumper on Chaibasa-Hatgamariah road (NH75) today, police said.
