One held for duping man with high-society women bait

One person was arrested here on the charge of duping of money from a man promising him friendship of high-society women, police said today.
Acting on the complaint of a resident of Kareya, police arrested the accused from Patuli area late last night.
"The complaint had received a call from an unknown number promising him to get him hooked to women of high-society on payment of registration fees," the officer said.
The caller had claimed to be calling from a condom manufacturing company and took Rs 1960 as registration fees through a private bank account, he said.
"However, the complainant didn't get the service nor the money and lodged a complaint with the police," he said.

"The bank account is being observed to find the quantum of deposits," the officer said adding that several mobile phones had been seized during the time of arrest.
A city court remanded the accused to police custody till August 28.
