A contractual worker was today charred to death and three others were seriously injured in a fire at the coal godown of Tamil Nadu Paper Mill Ltd in this district.
The fire, which could be from a burning cigarette stub, spread instantly as the coal stock was very dry, police said.
Fire brigade personnel doused the flames after battling it for an hour, they said.
While Soundar was killed, the three injured have been admitted to a hospital, police said, adding a case has been registered in this regard.
