One person killed, eight injured in separate accidents

One person was killed and eight others were injured today in two separate accidents on National Highway in the area.
According to police officials, one person was knocked down by a speeding car while trying to cross the NH-31 at Highway Chowk area.
The person, identified as Mantaj Ali, was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), but later he succumbed to his injury.
The other accident took place at NH-31 near Fatima Convent School in Rangia, police said.
In the second incident, eight persons were seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling hit a stationary truck.
All the injured have been shifted to GMCH, police said.
The passengers were going to Sipajhar from Nalbari.
