The incident took place when the members of Ghosh family from nearby Tirpurpara village allegedly shot them as they tried to stop the family members from forcefully tilling their land using a tractor, police said.
Aprna Das (50), two other women and a man received bullet injuries and were rushed to Shaktinagar Hospital here, police said, adding, Das was declared brought dead.
Family members of Das and other villagers are marginal farmers and used to farm in the 20 bighas of vested agricultural land.
The members of Ghosh family however, claimed, they had bought the farmland at Ghugra Gachi in Krishnaganj police station, they said.
A large contingent of police went to the spot. However, nobody has been arrested yet, police said.
